- Biology 20 covers energy and matter flow and exchange in the biosphere in populations and in living organisms. The human physiology of the digestive, excretory, circulatory, motor, and immune systems are also studied.

- Designed to help students plan for their futures and prepare them for independent living with a focus on communication, well-being, relationships, sex education, career planning, and independent living skills. *Must be completed by date of graduation.

- Chemistry 20 studies the basic chemistry concepts of bonding, solutions, quantitative relationships in chemical changes and introductory organic chemistry. Students will look at the nature of science, and the relationship between science, technology, and society.

- ELA 20-1 emphasizes the development of reading and writing skills through the study of various literary genres, with a focus on developing critical analytical skills in essay writing.

- Similar to ELA 20-1, ELA 20-2 focuses more on popular nonfiction and feature films, and response to contexts.

- Math 20-1 covers systems of equations, circle geometry, polynomial functions, quadratic functions, formal reasoning and personal finance.

- Math 20-2 includes topics such as relations, functions and equations, probability, statistics, and trigonometry.

- P.E. 20 focuses on individual life skills activities. (Offered in alternating years.)

- Physics 20 is an introduction to the science of Physics, and covers kinematics and dynamics, vectors, circular motion and gravitation, and the conservation of energy. (Math 10 Pure with a 70% or completion of Math 20 Pure is strongly recommended.)

- Religion 20 looks at ethical questions facing society today and how Christians view these issues. Some of these questions are as follows: are there general guidelines that we should all follow? Are there general criteria for distinguishing between right/good and wrong/evil? Why should we be moral at all? These questions are applied to various ethical issues.

- Math 20-2 includes topics such as relations, functions and equations, probability, statistics, and trigonometry.

- Service Learning requires that each students completes twenty-five hours of documented service learning activities in the community, church or school by end of the school year. * Each student is eligible to earn 1 credit over their 3 years of Service Learning by registering in CMH2030 – “Community Volunteerism”.

- Social Studies 20-1 is a study of European history from the French Revolution to WWI and a survey of global interaction.

- Similar to Social Studies 20-1, Social Studies 20-2 seeks to understand examples of nationalism in Canada and the world.

- Art 20 develops and refines students’ drawing skills and styles and also use non-traditional approaches to create compositions in both two and three dimensions.

Career Technology Modules |

- Students may have the opportunity to earn one or more credits in a variety of CTS modules that relate to the school’s academic & co-curricular program. These modules may focus on developing technology-related skills, support learning in other subject areas, and/or prepare students for the workplace.

- Choral Music 20 is an intermediate course, further building upon previous knowledge, with a greater focus on theoretical and practical skills.

- Digital Photography introduces a series of lessons and activities using digital cameras and computer software programs. This class covers features of a digital camera, the digital darkroom, printing and creating, subjects and styles and macro/micro shots.

- Drama 20, in addition to previously learned concepts also introduces the concept of playwriting. Students also gain experience in performance and exploration of the elements of theatre.

English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) |

- E.S.L. assists students in improving basic English language skills, focusing on reading, writing and verbal communication. Through systematic instruction, students gain a stronger fluency of the English language.

- French 20-3Y builds upon foundational skills learned in French 10-3Y, giving students the opportunities to improve their writing, reading and conversational skills.

- Information Processing 20 further builds upon a study of computer applications, particularly word processing, databases and spreadsheets, presentation software and web page design.

- The R.A.P. gives students on-site training by a skilled tradesperson with classroom learning. Students get practical, hands-on training, and get a start on their apprenticeship for potential careers in the trades.

- Spanish 20 expands upon key grammar skills with a greater focus on basic reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

- Students can acquire knowledge in areas of fitness and nutrition, injury management, management for sports teams and other topics.

- The Work Experience Program provides students an opportunity to acquire credits for part-time/full-time jobs. Students explore careers and reflect upon specific knowledge, skills and attitudes gained in the workplace.
